This is a short yet very weighty story of how two strangers find redemption in each other's lives. At times poignant but exceedingly uplifting, it is an unforgettably moving tale that you'd wish to pass on.
A solid first novella from author Damien Green - looking forward to more from this storyteller.
The story progresses quickly and leaves food for thought with each chapter. Love the letter format as we see one character developing as another reflects on his past simultaneously.

Very touching. An old guy on the block that's been around the block a few times sends posthumous letters to a kid on the block that he believes in, and makes him a better man.
Great, fast read!
A short but beautiful story about war, love of country, lost dreams and making the best of the worst in life. You cannot read this and not be touched in some way. Worth 10 stars.
It is such an engrossing read!
The book is definitely a page turner. It has a lot of emotion and a unique plot line which I really liked. I think it progresses a little too quickly so that there is little room for savoring the emotions but maybe that was because I am a fast reader. It was so interesting that I wished it would have lasted longer. I especially loved reading the letters in a letter format )

I'm a voracious reader so a friend recommended this to me. I never do well with friend recommendations, but this is the exception.
Damian Green has created a truly beautiful and concise story.
A voice calls out from another era to a boy learning to become a man. A connection is made, important life themes are inextricably interwoven in the story, and beautiful imagery strikes us as we wait for the next contact. All of the elements really work together. The story sticks with you.
